Hi charmdfatdoc, Thank you for taking the time to post. Can you think of anything that might have changed on the computer recently, installed software/updates anything like that? Have you tried to boot into safe mode to see if you can get into Windows? To use a Safe Mode option, follow these steps: Restart the computer and as the computer is booting tap the F8 key on the keyboard and select “safe Mode” If you can get into Windows from here, see if you can create a new user account. · Click the Start Button on the Desktop · Select Control Panel · Select User Accounts Create a new user and restart normal and see if you can get into Windows now. If creating the new user account fixes the issue you will need to copy your data from the corrupt profile to the new profile. Please let us know. Hello - I am experiencing the same issue. However it only happens intermittently for me, and when I reboot I am able to login to my local profile. I would like to be proactive though and so ... I read somewhere that I have a corrupted User Profile and according to this article:\ http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/811151/?p=1 I need to move my C: drive contents from my current Admin Profile to my New Admin Profile. And I cannot be logged into either account I am moving files from or to. So I created: 1. A New User (with Admin Privilege) 2. A New Admin Now, I need to reboot, and login as the New User with admin privilege - correct? So I can move files from Old Amin to New Admin. I've been afraid to reboot until I know I understand this correctly. Anything else I should be aware of ? I really don't want to lose all my settings (firefox) (Outlook) etc... and am hoping this move keeps everything intact? I also understand it's possible you are just moving the old corruption into the new profile? In which case should I run something like this first: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1b286e6d-8912-4e18-b570-42470e2f3582&DisplayLang=en Also, I understood from another article that we should not USE our Admin Profile. It should just be left empty for instances such as this. Apparently when you USE an Admin Profile it can become corrupted. So we are to create another Admin Profile that we actually use. Is this correct? So when I am finished - should I delete the Old Amin User and create another one that just sits there? Thank you!
